Happy Saturday, my loves!
I’m the most excited to be sharing another wedding update with all of you. Time is FLYING and my wedding to-do list keeps growing. This has been the most magical time and I will pat myself on the back for this – I have not been getting stressed about planning. There are so many small logistical components you don’t think of before you get married that tie into the big day. With so many things going on, it is easy to get overwhelmed, and every time I feel an ounce of *AAAHH* ness coming on, I shut my computer and walk away from planning for the day. It has really been helping me keep a clear mind and stay excited about everything! You only do this once, and your friends and family will have a good time regardless. Do not make it a stressful time in your life.
A few weeks ago I went to San Diego with my mom for looooots of wedding meetings. We met with my coordinator, Rachel, of Bliss Events. She has been so helpful and has great advice. Our meetings included going to our ceremony site, reception venue + wedding hotel and rehearsal dinner venue. We met with my florist and the bakery who is going to be doing our wedding cake. I cannot wait to share the designs I chose for both with you guys!
I met with a few rental companies I found on WeddingWire who I will be renting linens, chargers, draping, a dance floor and all those fun things from. Whenever I first started planning – the process of finding vendors was sort of all over the place. My mom said a good place to start is to get three quotes from every type of service I am renting from, so that is what I have been doing. I email three companies to get a quote and then determine the average cost. Another thing to ask for is the final cost not just the rental cost. With tax, service charges, delivery fees, and whatever else they throw at you, there is a difference.
Our Save the Dates went out a few weeks ago – I had so much fun working on them with my stationary designer, McKenzie of Paper Tie Affair. McKenzie is the absolute best, she is so sweet. I found her on WeddingWire and was thrilled to have someone in Houston to work on things with. We get coffee during the week every time it’s time for a design meeting. It has been a lot of fun! Now I am working on invites – etiquette is to send those out much earlier than normal since we are hosting a destination wedding.
For all you brides out there – who got an enormous amount of wedding Save The Dates/invites back? Almost every single one I got back has had the correct address so I simply put them back in the mailbox hoping for a successful delivery on round two. I always heard of this happening to people but never knew it happened in such abundance. Totally bizarre to me.
I hope you have a great Easter Sunday tomorrow + get to enjoy some time with your friends and families.
