Starting a New Chapter – with Some Help from My Friends at Frost Bank

Amalfi Coast Proposal

The last few months have been a total whirlwind. Between getting engaged, beginning the wedding planning process, moving into a new apartment + furnishing it (while also determining how Keith + I can combine our stuff here in the near future), I felt like money was flying out the windows. Knowing this process was only going to get more vigorous as we combine finances and that fun stuff… I knew it was time to bring in an expert.

Finances is such a weird topic. It is very personal and I couldn’t help but be worried I was going to be judged when someone was looking at how much I was spending at Nordstrom + Amazon.  Now you know where my money goes – my family can attest to the Amazon one per our family AmazonPrime account.

Moving past embarrassment, I knew it was time to get down to business. I spoke with a representative at Frost Bank to determine what all I would be needing help with over the past few months to ensure I was spending money the smart way.

Huge thanks to the lucky guy who got stuck with me at Frost for over an hour. Here’s what we decided to focus on based on Frost’s services:

Financial Planning for My Wedding

Keeping track of vendors, contracts, etc. is a task in itself!

Combining Income

Keith’s favorite part about getting married is me having true visibility into how much he actually spends at Chipotle on a monthly basis. My favorite part, that we are opening a new checking account together so he will never see how much I have truly ever spent at Target.

Saving for a Home

We decided we are not going to buy a house right after we get married. I honestly love living in a community complex, it works much better for my lifestyle. That being said, we will be saving a lot of money towards a home!

Fraud Protection

If you have been following CBC for awhile then you know my favorite thing (and Keith’s) favorite thing to do is travel. With your cards being in many different hands in new cities, I always get anxious. At restaurants, bars, anywhere they take my card, I get really nervous about it. Thankfully for Frost Fraud Protection, we can be at ease!

Frost Checking

I will be completely honest, sticking to a budget is not my strong suit. I gave myself a certain amount to spend on re-modeling my apartment, and I did so because I knew Keith + would be combining our house furnishings, and still went over it. I am confident the different tools offered by Frost Checking will help keep me in line!

There are just a few things we touched on during my time at Frost. I am so grateful for the knowledge of their representatives.

If you have recently gotten married and have any advice on any of the above, tips in general when combining incomes, or hurdles you did not originally expect, I would love to hear from you! You can email me at courtney@curatedbycourtney.com.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!
