Happy Saturday my sweet friend!
What fun plans do you have for the weekend? I decided to take some time off from working out today and am going to go on a long walk in my families new neighborhood. My parents used to live in Cypress, Texas, but we recently moved to a different area in Houston – The Woodlands – and it has been fun to get to explore the neighborhood and try new places. If you live in The Woodlands please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org! I would love to get together for coffee or dinner and I am always looking for workout/walking buddies.
I have to share an experience I had last night which was a subtly reminder to just let life be. I was talking to my best friend Alex (find her on IG, she is fabulous and also one of the world’s most genuine people) on the phone this week and we were talking about how powerful the universe is. We all try to make things happen in our life and there are times where there is so much friction with the plans we are making for our day, for ourselves, for others. This is the universe telling us to stop and let it do its thing. Alex and I were talking about how we had been thinking of things or thinking of people and then bam they would come into our lives. Thoughts are really so powerful!
Onto my experience, all last night I was dreading waking up this morning to workout. I really wanted to have a lazy Saturday but I knew I should probably go to a spin class because I have been lacking on the cardio this week. The latest I workout on Saturday is 9AM, I like starting my day early so if I am not in class by this time, it isn’t happening. Despite not wanting to work out I made myself get on ClassPass (more about ClassPass in this blog post and you can sign-up at this link) to book a spin class. There are alwaaays spin classes available in the morning but when I looked, nothing. I even opted to drive 40+ minutes to go to a class and still nothing. My feeling of not wanting to workout immediately turned to – “what the heck?!” In this moment I knew the universe was giving me a sign and saying I need to take it easy and take a breather. Wake up late, drink my coffee slowly, go for a leisurely morning walk, don’t have a plan today.
So often we try to make things work our way and what we have to remember is that there is a lot of life going on besides just ourselves – which all has to align to make the world spin. Let life be instead of trying to force life to be how you want it to be. Challenges, struggles, conflict, hurt, they are not something to see in a negative life. They are a chance to GROW. View these scenerios as an opportunity to keep molding into your best you. Changing your viewpoint makes our day-to-day issues and even big life events seem so much more small, less stressfully, and easier to overcome.
Another example of this is when I started my blog. If you recently started following Curated by Courtney, you may be surprised to know it used to be called Courtney & Confetti. I started my blog back in college as something to add to my resume and it blossomed into what it is today! After I discovered my true love for blogging, writing, connecting with people from all over the world, and motivating others, I knew I had to “brand” myself. I chose the color blush years ago – I always say I liked blush before it was trendy – it is a true representation of me. I like colors which are light, airy, feminine, soft, and bring joy. I call blush the perfectly colored neutral! Branding yourself is HARD. I will be honest it takes time. I tried to force a lot of things which just did not work on my end and were not truly me. This is another example of letting life be. You can feel it inside if something is right and “branding yourself” is no exception.
For this reason I looooove buying blush things. Blush is actually one of the only colored anything I actually do buy. I typically buy white, black, camel, nude, light blue hues, and that’s about it. Told you I go for the soft look.
I was browsing the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale yesterday and kept coming across the cutest blush pieces which I had not previously seen! So, I decided to do a roundup for you guys. You can shop all my favorite blush finds below.
Don’t forget to reminder yourself to let life be. You have to work at it. When things are not going your way, detach from how you think they should go – you can read more about detatchment in a previous blog post. Let go of your vision and simply be. If you ever wanted to know the secret to having less stress in your life, this is it!
