Five Ingredients to Amplify Your Green Smoothie

Top Ingredients to Add In Green Smoothies

Friend, Happy Wednesday!

Today’s post is all about amplifying your green smoothie. If you follow me on Instagram (@courtneynbier), then you know I drink green smoothies pretty regularly.

Truth be told – I have been drinking smoothies for years but I used to get them all wrong. When you think smoothie, people always think fruit. I have found after standing in many smoothie lines, banana + strawberry is the most sought after smoothie flavor.

After years and years of smoothie drinking, I finally figured out how to add additional benefits without completely altering the taste. See five things I like to add to green smoothies below!

Turmeric, fights inflammation! Understanding chronic inflammation and working to prevent it is important when thinking about fighting disease. Many diseases are caused by inflammation in the body.

Ginger, has anti-inflammatory + antioxidant effects. Assists with digestion.

Apple Cider Vinegar, many people use ACV because they say it helps them lose weight. I do not use ACV for this intent but it is what many people utilize it for. What it does do is assist in digestion. ACV contains pectin (a fiber), and it has been found to aid in other diseases due to the chlorogenic acid and has the ability to assist in healthy blood sugar levels.

Chia Seeds, are a part of the mint family! A fun fact I wanted to throw out there. I add these because they are a great bundle of nutrients – fiber, protein, calcium, manganese, magnesium + phosphorus. Typically marketed as containing Omega-3s, I do not view chia seeds as so. Chia seeds contain ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). Our bodies cannot effectively convert ALA to DHA or EPA (the omega-3s which we as humans use).

Lemon, one of my favorite ingredients to use in everyday life + smoothies. Lemon has natural detoxing properties along with many vitamins. Lemon helps with digestion, improving the appearance of skin/hair, and more.

Five easy things to incorporate into your smoothie routine so you can max out on benefits.

Additionally, if you are looking for a blender, Vitamix is 100% the way to go. They are an investment but I use mine for absolutely everything. It has made my life so much more simple and saves me a ton of time.

Let me know if you use any of the above in a smoothie soon!
