Cream & Camo

To put it lightly; camo is my new obsession. Why you ask? This honestly goes back to my last post, Happy in a Hoodie, and how perfect green is for fall. Before I go on a rant, I will let you go ahead and read about about my green obsession there.

Moving on… This past weekend I checked off one of the many items on my “fall checklist”. I finaaaaaally went to the apple orchard in Idalou, Texas! Idalou is a small little city about 25 miles Northwest of Lubbock and it is home to Home Apple Country Orchards. For those of you have never been to an apple orchard before (as I had not), you are in for way more than you planned. The place had toooooons of apples. Tons. I had so much fun walking around with my man (he refuses to let me feature him on here!) and pulling along our little apple wagon. It was such a fun afternoon!

As I have told you many of times, the weather in Lubbock is weird. When I first moved to Lubbock for school in the Fall of 2010 I had no idea what I was getting myself into. A high of 80 and a low of 40 all in the same day? How does a girl survive in those types of crazy weather changes? Layers. Layers, layers, layers. I have gotten really good at keeping a jacket with me at all times and wearing something less heavy as my base piece. You have to in a place like Lubbock!

The key to layering is to make sure that your base item is not too chunky! Something chunky under a jacket (or any top layer), is the recipe for how to look like a marshmallow. If that is the look you are going for- no offense! This look does not look too flattering on myself however.

This basic sweater from Conversation Pieces is the perfect piece to layer with. It gives off a knit look and is not too thick but still manages to keep you warm! If I could design a sweater to layer with, boo yah, this is it!

Layering is one of my favorite parts of colder weather because it makes the outfit opportunities endless, and also lets you play with the same pieces in your closet over and over again! Now go see what you can mix and match with!
