To say I am absolutely addicted to this coconut coffee scrub would be a complete understatement. I have really liked skincare products I have purchased before but nothing compares to this (and I made it myself!) I have heard of people using coffee grinds as a skin scrub before and when my friend Loren from Wear & When told me she uses it to clear up her skin, I decided to give it a try!
This scrub is so easy to make and provides serious results. I have never had super smooth skin, mine is covered in bumps and I always feel self conscious about it during the summertime and swimsuit season. This could also be called the skin clearing, made for swimsuit season, scrub!
I used this scrub one time and immediately noticed results. Then I used it time and time again, and my skin is the most clear it has ever been! All without harsh chemicals, coloring, or disease causing ingredients.
After using this scrub my skin is soft, bump free, and feels super moisturized from the coconut oil. Something to note- your skin will have that “lotion-y” feeling for about 30 minutes after you use this, so probably not the best scrub to use if you are jumping in the shower and running out of the house. I have been using the scrub a few nights a week before I go to bed. Also to note, this will get all over your shower but nothing a few splashes of water cannot clear up. You will also look like you covered yourself in dirt and/or crumbled Oreo cookies, but just go with it!
What you need:
1 cup coconut oil
1 cup ground coffee beans (I use coffee beans from my left over K-cups in the morning!)
Steps:
Put your coconut oil and coffee grinds in separate bowls.
Use your spoon to break apart any lumps of ground coffee bean sticking together in the bowl. You want to make sure your coffee grinds are dry so do not use grinds you have just used for coffee. If you make coffee in the morning, let the grinds dry for a few hours.
Add the coffee grinds and coconut oil together in one of the bowsl. I have added the grinds to the oil, and the oil to the grinds, both create the same result.
Mix the grinds and oil together.
You’re done! Now store in a room temperature area in your home.
How to Use:
Take the container of scrub into the shower and rub scrub over desired areas. I rub this all over my legs and arms. Rinse with warm water. You will feel like a layer of the coconut oil is still on it. It should absorb within 30 minutes. Repeat as many times a week as desired!
